Born in 1933 in Sangli, Maharashtra, she is the younger sister of another legendary Indian playback singer, Lata Mangeshkar. Bhosle began her music career in the 1940s and has since become one of the most celebrated singers in Indian cinema.
In her career spanning over eight decades she has recorded songs for films and albums in various Indian languages and received several accolades including two National Film Awards,four BFJA Awards eighteen Maharashtra State Film Awards, nine Filmfare Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award and a record seven Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer. In addition to two Grammy nominations. In 2000, she was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award India’s highest award in the field of cinema. In 2008, she was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Vibhushan the second-highest civilian honour of the country. The Guinness Book of World Records acknowledged Bhosle in 2011 as the most recorded artist in music history.
Her family moved to Mumbai when she was just 10 years old, and she began her musical training under her father’s guidance. She soon became a part of her father’s theatrical productions, singing and acting in plays.
Her musical career began in earnest when she was just 16 years old. She was introduced to music director S.D. Burman, who gave her a chance to sing in the film “Majhli Didi” (1950). Her first solo hit came in the film “Raat Ki Raani” (1949), and she went on to become one of the most sought-after playback singers in the Indian film industry.
In 1955, Ashs married Ganpatrao Bhosle, who was also a music director. The couple had three children together: Hemant, Varsha, and Anand. However, their marriage was troubled, and they separated in 1960. They ware together from (1949-1960). Then married R.D. Burman in 1980. Thet were together untill R.D. Burman’s Death(1994) And her son Hemant Bhosle died of Cancer and daughter Varsha was commited sucide.
Asha Bhosle’s career continued to flourish throughout the 1960s and 1970s, and she became known for her versatility and ability to sing a wide range of genres, including classical, folk, and Western-style pop music. She collaborated with many of the leading composers of the time, including R.D. Burman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, and Kalyanji-Anandji.
